On September 21, 2025, St. George Parish in Hermann, Missouri celebrated their 180th anniversary. Parishioners and visitors celebrated Mass, had lunch, and enjoyed bands, bingo, and other games. Mass was celebrated by Father Phil Niekamp with co-celebrants Father Paul Clark, Father Chris Aubuchon, and Father Bill Debo. They were assisted by Deacon Joe Horton and Deacon Gerald Korman. Fr. Phil said the homily was about how the church was strong and the start of the school. When asked about what his parish means to him, Fr. Phil stated, “Home.”
After Mass, there was food and music in the school gym. There were also games and prizes for the younger kids. Mary Steiner, the Director of Religious Education, had a booth where she tested the kids on their knowledge of the Catholic faith.
The Church is very important to the people especially for the community and people. Mrs. Steiner said the reason she came was for “community.” The event brought the parish together for a joyous celebration. The church was happy to celebrate the 180th anniversary and looking forward to the many years to come.
